Pooja’s Journey: From Public Service Dreams to Pioneering Biomedical Research in Taiwan
Inspired by her father’s service in law enforcement, this student initially aspired to follow in his footsteps. But witnessing the challenges of that path, she turned her passion for serving society toward science. Her love for animals and interest in microbiology, especially the role of the human microbiota in health, led her to pursue a Ph.D. in Zoology. Drawn by Taiwan's advances in vaccine development and its affordable, research-friendly environment, she chose it as the ideal place for her doctoral studies. With plans to work in the pharmaceutical industry and later transition into teaching, she aims to develop new therapies and inspire future biomedical scientists. As the first scientist in her family, she is proud to chart a new path and make a lasting impact through research and education.
